I've been unable to find a version of the driver that will install the Broadcom USH only. You're correct in that the download for the Broadcom USH will include other software as well.
In my case a file named Dell_ControlVault_A08_R308494.exe helped with 'Broadcom USH' and ST-MICROELECTRONICS_FREE-FAL_A10_R309372.exe (fall sensor) helped with 'Unknown device' (I had to install it even that the fall sensor was switched off in BIOS). Latitude 5480: download and install the broadcom ush. Delta report for previous driver cab v/s current driver cab (dtf93-a05-) v/s (ghk5y-a06-).
Download and install the broadcom ush drivers (unified security hub w/swipe sensor drivers) and resolve unknown device issues encoder primer.
